My name is Jacquii Ferling a deer hunter, hunting guide, an outdoors woman and brand ambassador for Outdoor Sporting Agencies / Ridgeline Clothing.
What inspired me to start hunting:
I started hunting when I was 16 years old and have been in love with the sport ever since.
I am extremely fortunate to be able to hunt. Hunting is a way of life in my family it’s a part of who we are. I am very lucky to be able to commit so much time in the field; hunting for trophy animals, culling and harvesting of deer for venison.
What I enjoy about the outdoors:
I love being in the outdoors. Hunting to me is an adventure, a priority and a chance to develop skills whilst making life long memories. I aim to pass the passion on to the next generation balancing family, feminity and hunting into what I consider to be the best lifestyle in the world.
Favourite piece of clothing:
I believe that your hunting boots are the most important piece of hunting gear you take with you other than your rifle. Advice for new women hunters:
Don’t hold any reservations, get out and try it. It is ok if you don’t know everything there is to know about hunting, knowledge comes from experiences and can only be achieved with time. Go on your first hunt with someone who is patient, supportive, and that you are comfortable with; this will help you be relaxed and enjoy each moment. Once you have a successful hunt you will “be hooked”.Through my own journey of becoming a passionate deer hunter and outdoors woman and years of working to engage other female hunters I hope by sharing my own hunting experiences I aim to inspire other women, giving them the confidence to join in.
Best hunting experience:
I have been very lucky to be able to hunt many deer species here in Australia. Red Deer, Fallow Deer, Chital Deer and Rusa Deer. I honestly don’t have a favourite hunt they have all been memorable in their own right.
My best hunt would be out Hunting with my family making memories in the great outdoors.
